Link reversal is the process of changing the direction of a link, and then making necessary changes to the rest of the net so that any subsequent inference results will not be affected.  However, it may result in less efficient inference (or occasionally more efficient), since extra links may have to be added (removed) to maintain the global relationships between the nodes.
