The belief of a node is the set of probabilities (one for each of its possible states), taking into account the currently entered findings by using the knowledge encoded in the Bayes net.  Technically speaking, it is the marginal posterior probability distribution of the node, given the findings and the Bayes net model.  Sometimes the plural form “beliefs” is used to mean each of the probabilities in the set.
